Sonoma Café is a small place located on the 2nd floor of one of the downtown buildings on 4th Avenue. The interior is cozy, but if you don't get there early enough for lunch, you won't get a place there and instead will be seated at one of the tables in the building hallway with busy people walking by you the entire time. So maybe not a place for a romantic date?
I have been there a few times, and I've had a steak sandwich (good, and on special on Fridays, or it used to be), some sort of wrap (good but evidently not that memorable) and the signature Sonoma salad (really quite good, with sundried tomatoes and blue cheese). So no complaints on my part, but my dad ordered the grilled veggie sandwich and was decidedly underwhelmed.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Sonoma Café for catching up with an old friend or colleague over lunch. It is a solid alternative to for those of us sick of the usual spots such as Barley Mill or Joey's.
